Gardening Section

Founded 1979

The garden section is a thriving group with approximately 30 members at present. We meet on the first Tuesday of each month, except for the month of August, at 8 p.m. untill about 10. p.m. There is usually a guest speaker at the meeting and tea and refreshments are laid on. A regular Newsletter (click to view) is issued to members

Our annual AGM is held in April and anyone is welcome to attend

There is an annual 'Make Bake and Grow' Show (click for details) where members of the section exhibit their skills and a gardener of the year award is presented along with trophies for various themes. The show this year was held on Sunday 19th July 2009 The emphasis is on the fun, with a little competitiveness thrown in.

Being affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society enables us to certain privileges, including, entrance to one of the RSA gardens free once a year for up to 55 members. We are also connected to the Kent Federation of Horticultural Societies. Our program for the year includes: speakers, trips out, evening garden visits, quizzes, beetle drives and much more.

The membership fee to join the section is (£3.00) per year and to take part in the activities you must have membership of Woodcoombe Sports & Social Club
