News Letter May 05 - ANNUAL  GENERAL  MEETING

Wednesday 25th   May  starting  at  8.00 p.m.

Members  should  make  every  effort  to  attend,  and  if  you  have  any  items  to  discuss  under  Any  Other  Business  could  you  please  speak  to  the  General  Secretary  Terry  Wellard   on  478353.  Section Secretaries’ reports please to go in Brian Bartlett’s mail in the office.  Let’s take this opportunity to thank all the outgoing Members of the Main Club Committee for all their hard work throughout the past year.

BAR  Sorry to tell you that following what looks like a conspiracy between the Breweries and the Chancellor you may notice you are paying more for your drink from 28th April, please don’t moan at the bar staff as this is out of our control.

When the Club stays open for major televised sporting events the bar will close when the final whistle goes or the event finishes.

The Tennis Courts are now open, and at the end of June Cricket will start, if you are interested in joining the Cricket Section ring Trevor on 475810.

Paid volunteers needed to help on Bar-B-Q on May Monday Bank Holidays, i.e. the 2nd and 30th May, please ring Bill if you can help on 473638.  On May 2nd Karaoke will start at 4 p.m.– 9 p.m. and there will also be a bouncy castle for the children.

Dates for your diary:  Singing in the lounge on Saturday 30th   April we have “Sassy”, and on Saturday 28th May “Kim Bretton.                                   

Bingo May 14th.

Many congratulations to SAM CAIRNS English Schools Boxing Champion, Don and Tina must be very proud of you.

Well done to ADRIAN OLIVER winner of the quiz on London Underground Stations he scored 50 out of 50.  Thanks to Dave Hodges for supplying the quiz and for his help.  On the back of this newsletter at the Club is another quiz to make you think, “Who Said What.  If you can get 30 or more out of 33 well done, why not put your entry in my red box in the entrance lobby by 7 p.m. on 14th May, there may be a prize in it for you.

Please pick up the What's On Sheet there is a very full programme.

GARDENING SECTION have asked me to remind you that they meet the first Tuesday in the month in the hall starting at 8 p.m. Their A.G.M. is in April please leave a message for Archie if you want to go as Fish & Chips to be ordered. The Section has a Cream Tea & Plant evening in May, trip to Doddington Place Gardens in June, Day trip to French gardens and Hypermarket on June 29th, and July meeting is Bat & Trap and BBQ.

CAR PARK - This is locked up on a Saturday night so you cannot get your car out until Sunday lunchtime as there is a chain across the exit.

YOUTH NEWS: Well done to the U. 12 team who are in the final of the John Leeds Cup (Medway Sunday League teams). This will be played on April 14, 9 O'clock kick off, tickets behind bar £1 each.

SAM CAIRNS lost on points in the final S.E. England Youth Boxing Championship, split decision. Well-done Sam great achievement!

YOUTH STOP PRESS !!! CHARLIE FEAVER NOW UNDER 13 KENT SCHOOLS TABLE TENNIS CHAMPION !!!

CRICKET: 15 games organised, 10 at home, one each weekend starting 12th May, ring Trevor 475810 if interested.

FISHING: At the A.G.M. the following were elected: Chairman - John Russell, Secretary-Bill Witt, and Treasurer-Hardy Coomber.
